Note: Please be informed that all tourists/passengers have to pay a jetty fee of RM2.00 per Malaysian / RM10.00 per Non Malaysian to the local Semporna Tourism and Semporna District Office. This fee will be collected to KK Sales Office in advance upon confirmation of booking.

• Single supplement/room is subjected to a 50% surcharge from the whole package.

• Children below 12 years old are to pay 50% of the non diver package rate (Must share or occupy same room with parents).

• Guest can only take Diver or Non Diver package and no combining package is allowed.

• Single traveler is subjected to pay single room supplement of 50% surcharge from the whole package and has to follow our scheduled boat transfer with other guests. If not, there will be an additional charge of ranging between RM150 for land transfer per way (Tawau Aiport-Semporna jetty or Semporna jetty-Tawau Airport) and RM600 per way (Semporna-Mabul or Mabul-Semporna) for boat transfer.

• Certified divers who is on a Non Diver package that wish to dive with us in the resort are required to pay RM 120 per dive regardless of boat (has to follow existing diving boat schedule) or shore dives and is not inclusive of the dive equipment rental.

• Diver package is inclusive of 3 boat dives a day with divemaster and unlimited shore dives without guide at our Mabul house reef except on arrival and departure days. Tanks, weights and weight belt are provided. Diving is subjected to our dive schedules and regulations from our dive centre.

• Non Divers can do snorkelling at our jetty.

Sipadan Diving

• Anyone who wishes to dive at Sipadan will need to apply and pay for a permit. The permit fee is RM40 per pax per day.

• Due to the permit restrictions we can only arrange one day diving to Sipadan Island if you stay a minimum of a 5 Days and 4 nights Diver Package.

• The following personal details are required in order to apply for the permit:-

NOTE:-

• We reserve the rights and final decision to proceed or abort any dives or activities for safety reasons or subjected to bad weather or sea conditions, poor visibility and divers’ own physical abilities is compromise, example injuries, intoxication, hangovers and others.

• We practice a NOflying within 24 hours after diving with us.

How to get to Mabul?

Please note that it takes about:-

1. 90 minutes of ground transfer from Tawau Airport to Semporna jetty / Semporna jetty to Tawau Airport depending on the traffic flow.

2. 45 minutes to 1 hour of boat transfer from Semporna jetty to BDSS Mabul / BDSS Mabul to Semporna jetty depending on the weather conditions.

3. Guests are advised to follow our recommended flights to take in order to be connected to our daily normal scheduled land and boat transfer in and out of the island for their comfort of minimizing the waiting time.

4. If guests are unable to follow our scheduled transfer, additional charges of RM150 for land transfer per way and RM600for one way boat transfer will be charged.

HISTORY

”Now we have found an untouched piece of art” – Jacques Cousteau on Sipadan Island

The year was 1983 when Borneo Divers began their dive trips to Sipadan, the secret oceanic paradise discovered by Ron Holland. Subsequently, Mr. Holland welcomed underwater explorer Jacques Cousteau and his film crew to Sipadan Island which resulted in Mr. Cousteau’s movie “Borneo: Ghost of the Sea Turtle”. This documented Sipadan’s beauty and lush marine life, bringing the island international fame. The diving scene in Borneo exploded as a result and prompted Clement Lee and his dive buddies, Randy Davis, Ron Holland and Samson Shak to incorporate Borneo Divers, the first recreational diving operations in Sabah.

In 1984, Clement Lee became a certified PADI dive instructor and pioneered the very first dive school in Tanjung Aru with the approval of PADI’s American headquarters. Inspired to share his passion for diving with more people, Lee also founded the first Child Academy in Sabah, produced Malaysia’s first female dive instructor, and pioneered a multi-racial multi-cultural dive instructor team, amongst many other innovative projects.

Today, 23 years on, Borneo Divers is proud to still be the leading professional dive operation in Sabah, Malaysia.

With operations on both the East and West Coasts of Sabah, Borneo Divers really does have the best of both worlds.

DIVE DESTINATIONS

Dive Sipadan

“I have seen other places like Sipadan, 45 years ago, but now no more. Now we have found an untouched piece of art.” ~ Jacques Cousteau, French marine biologist.

Sipadan, voted as one of the Top 10 Dives by Scuba Travel, UK and Top 50 Best Dive Sites in the World by sportdiver.com, is home to over 3000 species of fish and hundreds of coral species. This oceanic island located in Celebes Sea boasts over 100 dive sites, with 12 internationally famous ones including the renowned Barracuda Point.

Sipadan is understandably famous for its wall diving. Just 20 feet from the shore, the wall plunges a staggering 2,000 feet down, encrusted with a multitude of living corals. An incredible diversity of marine life from pelagics to reef dwellers and turtles abound, even the occasional dolphin!

Now a fully protected conservation zone, work is in progress to list Sipadan as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Borneo Divers is proud to support this conservation effort and is working with the Malaysian government to secure Sipadan’s future.

Drop Off/Sipadan Jetty

A popular dive spot a mere 9.1 metres from the beach. With a 600-metre drop, it is excellent for marine biology, free diving, snorkelling, and underwater photography. A recommended site for children’s dives and first dives.

Turtle Cavern/Turtle Tomb

One of the highlights of Sipadan. An opening on the wall leads into a massive underwater cave extending over 65 metres into the island, with stalactites and stalagmites in the far reaches. Also called Turtle Tomb as skeletons of turtles (and a dolphin) can be found here. Fusiliers and Trevally are common sights at the entrance. This dive requires special equipment and an experienced local guide who is familiar with this underwater cave. Only experience cave divers are permitted to go beyond the light zone of the cave.
